What happens if I have to miss a class?
Our attendance policy is tied to students’ eligibility for pass-guarantee registration. I have been out of school a long time. Can your course help me?
Most of the students in our classes have been out of school for a while. We understand this situation and we offer three different learning formats: Live Online, Ondemand, and Onsite (PE Civil only) to meet our students’ needs. Our classes also start with refreshing some basic topics and then advance into more difficult ones. We provide a free basic calculator tutorial as well as a basic engineering math refresher course to get you started. Our classes are designed to enhance the chance of each student passing the exam, no matter when they finished school.
How do I qualify for the PE exam?
Each state has its own set of qualifications to determine eligibility for the PE exam. Please reach out to your state board for more information.
Can I use your course for Professional Development Hour (PDH) credits?
We have had students in the past use our courses as continuing education credit, but this varies by your state. Please contact your local state board to make sure you can use our course as PDH credit.
Do you offer tutoring sessions?
Yes, we offer individual tutoring sessions for students who may want more help preparing for their exam.
PE Civil Exam Changes
What changed with the new format?
The new format of the exam eliminated the “breadth” section, meaning you will be tested more on your specific discipline as opposed to general engineering knowledge.
Why did the exam change?
NCEES changed the exam to reflect on engineers’ professional expertise. You will be asked questions centered around what you know within your specific discipline instead of asking you questions about general civil engineering that may not apply within your profession.
What is not changing from the old exam?
These exams will still be administered in a CBT format. Most exam syllabi are remaining the same, albeit the topics may be in different orders.
How should my study efforts change?
Your study efforts should not change significantly, you’ll just be focusing on depth topics instead of the more general breadth topics. You can feel confident signing up with an exam prep provider like School of PE who has tailored their PE Civil exam prep courses to the new format.
