PE Civil Exam Changes

What’s not changing?

• Format: The exam is still 80 Questions, 9 hours long, and offered year-round as a computer-based test (CBT).
• Requirements: You still need a degree in engineering and 4+ years of relevant professional work experience.
• Core Depth Topics: Although there may be a few slight changes in terminology (see below), the core depth topics will remain the same in the new format.

What is changing?

• Breadth Questions: As of April 1st, all breadth questions will be removed and all questions will be focused on single depth topics.
• Topic & Subtopic Terminology: Some terminology will be updated to better reflect the current language of the industry.
• New Subtopic (water & transportation only): Two disciplines will each receive one new sub-topic.

What are my options?

School of PE has completely revamped our PE Civil courses with new course notes, workshop problems and solutions, and lecture videos to reflect the exam spec change.
