The Personalized Study Plan is exclusively available for OnDemand students.
Since OnDemand students study at their own pace without the structure of pre-scheduled classes, this plan is designed to help them stay on track and manage their study time effectively.

What topics are on the FE exam?
The FE exam covers a wide range of engineering fundamentals, with topics that vary depending on the specific discipline you choose. All seven versions of the exam—Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, Environmental, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Other Disciplines—include general subjects like Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, Ethics and Professional Practice, and Engineering Economics.

Why should I take the FE exam?

Why did the PE Civil exam change?
NCEES changed the exam to reflect on engineers’ professional expertise. You will be asked questions centered around what you know within your specific discipline instead of asking you questions about general civil engineering that may not apply within your profession.
What's changing on the PE Mechanical exams?
Starting October 1, 2025, the PE Mechanical exam will follow updated specifications:
Increased discipline-specific content and reduced general content, allowing a deeper focus on your specific area of expertise.
Updated terminology to reflect current industry standards.
Revised NCEES Reference Handbook and practice exams to align with the new exam specifications.

When can I get the updated PE Mechanical reference handbook and practice exams?
The new NCEES PE Mechanical Reference Handbook and practice exams are now available through your MyNCEES account. The current handbook (v. 1.9) is valid through September 2025. If you plan to take the exam on October 1, 2025 or later, you must use the updated handbook (v. 2.0).
Will School of PE release an updated PE Mechanical workbook?
Yes, an updated workbook will be released to align with the October 2025 exam changes. Students enrolled in the course will receive access to the new version once it becomes available.

When can I get the updated PE Electrical Power reference handbook and practice exam?
The new NCEES PE Electrical and Computer: Power Reference Handbook and practice exam are now available through your MyNCEES account. The current handbook (v. 1.3) is valid through September 30, 2025. If you plan to take the exam on or after October 1, 2025, or later, you must use the updated handbook (v. 2.0.1).
Will School of PE release an updated PE Electrical Power Exam Review Guide for the new exam specifications?
No, we do not plan to release a new PE Electrical Power Exam Review Guide at this time. Development is expected to begin in 2026, and we will share updates as progress is made.
