The FS exam is generally the first step in becoming a licensed professional surveyor and is designed for recent surveying graduates. While the typical path is to pass the FS exam before taking the PS exam, some states allow candidates to take the PS exam before or without ever taking the FS exam, depending on their experience and education. your state's licensing board for their specific requirements.
